Recap.Studio (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Recap.Studio application and website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.
Information We Collect
License Activation Data
When you purchase and activate a Pro license, the following information is processed through our payment provider (LemonSqueezy):
- License key: To validate your purchase
- Device name: Your computer’s name, used to identify activated devices
- Customer email: Provided during purchase for license delivery
- Instance ID: A unique identifier for each device activation
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Your Recordings: All screen recordings are processed and stored locally on your device. We never upload, access, or store your video content.
- Analytics or Telemetry: We do not collect usage statistics, feature usage data, or behavioral analytics.
- Crash Reports: We do not collect crash reports or diagnostic data.
- Keyboard or Mouse Input: Input tracking only occurs during active recording and is stored locally in your project files.
macOS Permissions
The app requests the following permissions, used solely for their stated purposes:

How We Use Your Information
License data is used solely to:
- Validate your Pro license
- Manage device activations (up to 3 devices per license)
- Provide customer support if needed
Data Storage
- Recordings and Projects: Stored locally in
~/Documents/Recap Studio Projects/or a folder you choose - License Data: Cached locally for offline use (valid for 30 days without internet)
- Preferences: Stored in macOS UserDefaults on your device
Third-Party Services
We use only one third-party service:
- LemonSqueezy: Payment processing and license management (Privacy Policy)
We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or any other third-party tracking.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Delete your data: Uninstalling the app removes all local data
- Deactivate your license: Free up device slots from within the app
- Request account deletion: Contact us to remove your data from LemonSqueezy
Offline Use
Recap.Studio works fully offline. License validation occurs every 7 days when online, with a 30-day grace period for offline use.
Children’s Privacy
Our Service is not intended for users under 18 years of age.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
